Years ago, I traveled to Ukraine as a photographer, accompanying a German aid shipment. I was constantly snapping pictures, capturing every moment. Alongside me was another photographer, a bit older, who spent most of the time simply observing.

Curious, I asked him why he wasn’t taking any photos. He did not answer for some time, then said, “I’ve taken so many pictures in my life – now I store the images in my mind.”

I completely understand that sentiment now.

Still, when an interesting assignment comes my way, I’m always happy to reach for my camera again.
